The Make Room

This course is aimed at those who have completed the beginners course or the intermediate course and wish to progress to something slightly more difficult, or to those who already have some basic experience of making clothes but would like to learn more.  We will make either trousers or a shirt, or for advanced a lined dress or jacket, which require a little more experience than the clothes made on the other courses.  The trousers will include a fly zip and pockets and the shirt will include a collar and facing with buttons and buttonholes. The Jacket and Dress will provides experience in lining and some tailoring techniques. It is possible to make any garment of your choice so long as it is appropriate to your level, so do not worry if you already have something in mind.  Anyone who has already completed an intermedite or advanced course is welcome to re book on this course and continue on to do something more challenging.

Week 1  Measure, choose a pattern and fabric
Week 2  Cut out and tailors tacks
Week 3  Preparation to fit
Week 4  Fitting and transfer of adjustments to pattern
Week 5  Adjustments to item and 2nd fit 
Week 6,7 and 8  Making up to finish. 

It is helpful if you can complete some work at home inbetween the classes, but not esssential.
